Telangana Thalli, state goddess of Telangana, has been given a new look. The statue, which is an image of the spirit of the stature, culture, and aspirations of the people of Telanaga, is now erected tall and staunch, showcasing the heritage of the state and its journey towards leapfrog.
A New Avatar
The Telangana Thalli statue, which was recently inaugurated, is a dynamic bronze sculpture measuring 20 feet in height. The image represents flashes of green from the verdant landscapes of Telangana draped in a saree of the same color. The figure is bedecked with one traditional Telangana ornament—red and green bangles, anklets, a nose ring, and three elaborate neck ornaments.
Symbolism and Significance
Every aspect of the statue has deep symbolism:
One of the new logos featuring clenched fists: Symbolizes the indomitable spirit of struggle and resilience of the people of Telangana.
Saffron brown dot on forehead: Represents the culture and traditions of the state.
Green saree: The green saree represents the fertile land of Telangana, which is known for agriculture.
Maize, pearl millet, and paddy plants in left hand: Union Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar will hold maize, pearl millet, and paddy plants in his left hand to highlight the agricultural backbone of the state and the farmers who toil tirelessly to feed the nation.
Abhaya Mudra (raised hand in right) — Shows fearlessness, protection, and blessings and gives the people of Telangana a bright and secure future.
Design and Creation
This artistically vibrant work of sculpture was made by a team of skillful artists and artisans. The conceptualization of the design was done by Prof. Gangadhar from Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), and the bronze statue was carved by Architect Ramana Reddy along with his team. The entire work, with a cost of around Rs 5.30 crore, was a labour of love and dedication.
Inauguration and Impact
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had on December 9, 2024, formally inaugurated the new Telangana Thalli statue in the Secretariat premises. Thousands attended the unveiling ceremony, as those who were there rejoiced in the cultural and historical importance of the statue.
The emblem is a powerful symbol of Telangana’s identity and hope, more than just a mere piece of art. Telangana Thalli serves as a constant inspiration for the people of Telangana to prosper and reach great heights.
